Resort-style island living at its finest
By the time Symphonia POP welcomes its first residents in late 2020, Nuns’ Island will be ready to enter a new era.
Already graced with a nine-hole golf course, private tennis club, Strøm Spa Nordique and an assortment of foodie destinations — including Les Enfants Terribles, Bananier and Mamie Clafoutis — it will soon be connected to a state-of-theart road network, including the new Champlain Bridge and a Réseau électrique métropolitain (REM) light-rail station.
Symphonia POP, the development that’s being built on the southwestern end of the isle with style — and slated to house 217 high-end condos, terrace apartments and penthouses on 32 floors — is a big part of Nuns’ Island’s transformation as well.
“With its mature trees and parks, majestic towers and stately homes, Nuns’ Island is an incredible place for families, urban professionals and retirees to call home,” said Kevin Robinson, general manager of Développements Symphonia. “Symphonia POP is a natural continuation of its evolution.”
Due to their privileged location and design, both Symphonia’s first phase, which was completed in 2014, and its successor, will offer unprecedented — and completely unobstructed — views of the city’s skyline, including downtown Montreal, the St. Lawrence River and Mount Royal.
Symphonia POP will be attached to the base of the first tower, thus connecting it to all existing amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools and a state-of-the-art fitness centre and yoga room. It will also be equipped with an impressive array of new amenities, such as an outdoor spa (complete with a hammam, dry sauna, whirlpool and frigidarium), kitchen, pergola and water feature.
“The landscape is already impeccably manicured, but it will be even more so in this second phase due to all of the additions we’re planning,” Robinson said.
Debbie Lafave, senior vicepresident of sales for Baker Real Estate, said the neighbourhood is ideal for residents looking for a peaceful, yet active outdoor lifestyle.
“The golf course at your doorstep is a huge lifestyle advantage for golf lovers,” she said. “The project is surrounded by the path that goes all along Nuns’ Island and there’s also a very active tennis scene, thanks to the Club de tennis Île des Soeurs, so living at Symphonia POP will be very much like living in a classic country club setting.
Golf Île des Soeurs, situated on de la Forêt Boulevard, is an eco-friendly golf course with nine holes, a clubhouse and one of the nicest outdoor terraces in town, making it an ideal place to enjoy a tasty bite to eat or a refreshing drink on a hot summer’s day.
The Club de tennis Île des Soeurs is a private tennis club with 20 indoor courts — including six clay courts — a tennis academy, a junior club andagym.
The Island’s growing ensemble of great dining establishments, like Les Enfants Terribles, Bananier, La Socca and F+F Pizza as well as the highly praised artisanal bakery Mamie Clafoutis, makes it the ideal location for people who are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city without having to compromise on taste, or variety.
“The fact that it’s on the western tip of the island means it’s devoid of any noise pollution: the constant din of the metropolis,” Robinson said. “But it isn’t suburban; it’s more like an urban area within a country setting.”
Nuns’ Island is home to 46 parks including the Domaine Saint-Paul, which totals 26 hectares and is one of the last large woodlands in the southwestern part of Montreal.
“The surrounding neighbourhood is also home to many families with young kids,” Lafave said. “And the development itself is surrounded by a number of beautiful parks and great schools.”
