Piknic Élec­tronik gets dance party restarted

Life is a Piknic, once again, as Mon­treal’s sum­mer Sun­day dance party launches its 16th sea­son this week­end, pre­sent­ing 21 events through Sept. 30 at Parc Jean-Dra­peau’s Plaine des Jeux on Île- Ste-Hélène.

Piknic Élec­tronik wel­comed 112,000 day­time rev­ellers in 2017. The event re­turns for more, Sun­day from 2-9:30 p.m. with the thump­ing techno of Brazil-born, Barcelona-based DJ Anna; then takes ad­van­tage of the long week­end with Ber­lin’s Mar­cel Dettmann on Mon­day.

Ger­many’s Clap­tone brings the warm house vibes on June 3; fol­lowed by the harder edges of Bel­gium’s Amélie Lens, June 10; the or­ganic grooves of France’s DJ Molly, June 17; the deep house of Ger­many’s Rampa, July 1; the eclec­tic EDM of L.A.-based Mija, July 15; the elec­tro of NYC’s Kim Ann Fox­man, Aug. 12; the Detroit techno of fa­ther-daugh­ter duo Floor­plan (Robert and Lyric Hood), Aug. 26; Mon­treal techno star Mis­stress Bar­bara in her regu- lar Labour Day week­end slot, Sept. 2 (with lo­cal hero Poirier on the sec­ond stage); Brazil’s Gui Bo­ratto, Sept. 16; and Detroit tech-house vet­eran Omar S and Mon­treal techno orig­i­nal Akufen, Sept. 23.
