- T’CHA DUNLEVY

Life is a Piknic, once again, as Montreal’s summer Sunday dance party launches its 16th season this weekend, presenting 21 events through Sept. 30 at Parc Jean-Drapeau’s Plaine des Jeux on Île- Ste-Hélène.

Piknic Électronik welcomed 112,000 daytime revellers in 2017. The event returns for more, Sunday from 2-9:30 p.m. with the thumping techno of Brazil-born, Barcelona-based DJ Anna; then takes advantage of the long weekend with Berlin’s Marcel Dettmann on Monday.

Germany’s Claptone brings the warm house vibes on June 3; followed by the harder edges of Belgium’s Amélie Lens, June 10; the organic grooves of France’s DJ Molly, June 17; the deep house of Germany’s Rampa, July 1; the eclectic EDM of L.A.-based Mija, July 15; the electro of NYC’s Kim Ann Foxman, Aug. 12; the Detroit techno of father-daughter duo Floorplan (Robert and Lyric Hood), Aug. 26; Montreal techno star Misstress Barbara in her regu- lar Labour Day weekend slot, Sept. 2 (with local hero Poirier on the second stage); Brazil’s Gui Boratto, Sept. 16; and Detroit tech-house veteran Omar S and Montreal techno original Akufen, Sept. 23.
