Expect closures at Turcot Interchange, Mercier Bridge

Here’s a look at this weekend’s road closures in Montreal:

■ As part of the ongoing reconstruction of the Turcot Interchange, a large section of Highway 20 westbound will be completely closed beginning midnight Friday. This will include sections of Highway 720 and Route 136 between Exit 5 in the Ville-Marie tunnel and the entrance to Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Blvd. that is part of the Montréal- Ouest interchange.

■ Eastbound sections of Route 136 and Highway 720 (toward downtown Montreal) will also be closed, between the Turcot Interchange and the entrances to Notre Dame and de la Cathedrale Sts. inside the Ville-Marie tunnel, as of midnight Friday. By default, the Highway 15 south (Décarie Expressway) and Highway 20 east on-ramps connecting to Highway 720 will be closed.

Both the eastbound and westbound sections will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

■ Motorists heading from downtown toward the Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport are advised by Transport Québec to use Highway 520 west (Côte-de-Liesse Rd.) as an alternative.

■ As part of the same work, Exit 64 on Highway 20 east (to Angrignon Blvd. and St-Jacques St.) will be closed during the same time period.

■ Construction work on the Mercier Bridge will leave only one lane in each direction open between 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday. Poor weather conditions could push the work back deeper into the weekend.

■ On the South Shore, the Taschereau Blvd. and St-Laurent St. entrances to the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be closed between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.

■ Construction of the new Champlain Bridge will force the closure of Highway 132 east between Exit 53 (toward the old Champlain Bridge) and the entrance after it between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday. The same work will close Highway 132 west between Exit 76 (Simard Blvd.) and the exit after it.

■ Work on the Montreal side of the new Champlain Bridge will close Exit 57-S (l’Île-des-Soeurs Blvd.) during the same period of time.
