Bourdain: glitz And suffering
Re: “We lost the captain of our ship” (Bill Brownstein, June 12)
The premature death of Anthony Bourdain represents a personal loss to all who virtually travelled the world with him as he moved from place to place, culture to culture.
His TV shows were a gateway for loyal viewers who relished the opportunity to glimpse into the human condition and the lives of others near and far.
He was successful in the public eye and yet, behind all the glitz and celebrity status, was a suffering soul. The fact he took his life at 61, with still so much to offer, is nothing less than a tragedy.
Hopefully, his suicide will once again sensitize us to the potential fragility of life and speak to those with the courage to reach out for help. Brahms E. Silver, Côte-St-Luc
