Île-Bizard residents get a scare

An Île-Bizard woman awakened by a noise in the kitchen came face to face with a man armed with a hammer on the morning of June 10.

The woman told police the man spoke to her in English, telling her he didn’t want to hurt her. She called for her husband and the man demanded keys to their car. The husband left to retrieve them, but returned with a baseball bat and kitchen knife. The man ran off, but the woman told police he took her husband’s cellphone and wallet.

The suspect is young and white, about 5-foot-6 and 130 pounds. He wore a wind breaker, baggy beige pants, running shoes and a blue cap.
