The Ste-Anne Hospital has a gardening day planned on June 16 to beautify the areas where the residents go to enjoy the outdoors and is looking for five volunteers to help out. Ages 16+. Omega Community Resources is looking for a volunteer board member who is a profession­al looking to give back to the community, specifical­ly for the mental health cause. Responsibi­lities include: Supporting the organizati­on’s mission, helping with strategic planning, decision-making to better our services and programs, sharing ideas. Ages 25+.

Caisse Desjardins Pointe Claire is looking for 50 volunteers for a half marathon they are organizing to benefit Alzheimer Montréal Foundation. Tasks include registrati­ons, water distributi­on, traffic, etc. Ages 14+. The Centre de réadaptati­on de l’Ouest de Montréal (C.R.O.M.) is looking for volunteers interested in helping specialize­d educators during our school preparatio­n groups for children, aged 4-6 years old, who are living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program takes place in July and August. Ages 16+.

The Centre de réadaptati­on de l’Ouest de Montréal is also looking for 15 volunteers who are interested in friendly visiting or community accompanim­ent with individual­s, between the ages of 6-110 years old, who are living with an intellectu­al disability or an autism Spectrum disorder. Ages 16+. The Running Room is hosting the Solstice 5-km race to benefit the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre in Pointe-Claire Village on June 21 at 8 p.m. They are looking for volunteers to welcome and orient participan­ts, distribute water and medals, along with other tasks to ensure the smooth functionin­g of the race. Ages 16+.

A kind and appreciati­ve 82-yearold Pointe-Claire man would benefit from having a male volunteer visit him from time to time at his home to play cards and pool with him. He is mobile but feels lonely as he recently lost his driving licence. He speaks both English and French.

A French-speaking senior woman in Lachine is looking for a female volunteer to help reduce her isolation and loneliness through friendly home visits. She is suffering from aphasia due to a stroke and she could benefit from someone who could read for her. She is social but has difficulty expressing herself. She recently lost her dearest friend very suddenly and she still mourns for her.

A 91-year old senior woman who has recently been moved into a residence in Ste-Geneviève from her home would appreciate a female volunteer to offer her social and emotional support through friendly home visits. She is a former nurse who loved to be independen­t. Although she is not an artist, she loves paintings and art. She is suffering from dementia and is walking with the help of a walker. She speaks French.

A very social and friendly 74-year old Pierrefond­s woman is looking for a female volunteer to offer her social support to break her isolation. She still lives independen­tly in her home but would like to be accompanie­d on social outings such as coffee shops and restaurant­s. She speaks English and Spanish.
