What’s open and closed during Fête nationale

Here is a partial list of what’s open and closed for Fête nationale on Sunday, June 24 and Monday, June 25.

Federal and provincial offices in Montreal will be closed on Monday. Most Montreal city offices will also be closed Monday, including borough and Accès Montréal offices and points of service.

Garbage, recycling, compost and bulky waste collection will take place according to the usual schedules in all boroughs.

The municipal courthouse on Gosford St. will be closed.

The city’s écocentres will be open according to their regular summer schedule: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Montreal boroughs set their own schedule for sports centres, pools, arenas, libraries and cultural centres. Check your local borough’s website for more details.

All parking restrictio­ns and automated parking payment machines remain in effect as usual Sunday and Monday.

The STM runs on a holiday schedule with modified bus schedules. Check the changes specific to your route at stm.info.

The Vaudreuil-Hudson line on exo (formerly the Réseau de transport métropolit­ain) will run on a Sunday schedule on Sunday and Monday. The St-Jérôme line will run on a weekend schedule both days. The four other exo lines will not operate on Sunday or Monday.

The Société de transport de Laval will run on its normal schedules Sunday and Monday. The Réseau de transport de Longueuil will run on a Sunday schedule on Sunday and Monday.

Many banks — including TD Canada Trust, National Bank and Desjardins — will be closed Sunday and Monday.

SAQ stores will be closed on Sunday but open as usual on Monday.

All public markets, such as Jean-Talon and Atwater, are open on Sunday and Monday.

Many large supermarke­t chains — including Provigo, Metro and IGA — are closed on Sunday but open Monday.

Many shopping malls — such as the Eaton Centre, Alexis Nihon and Rockland — will be closed on Sunday but open according to their regular hours on Monday. Restaurant­s that are in malls but have their own separate street entrances do not always follow holiday schedules, so check with a specific restaurant before heading there.

On Sunday, the Insectariu­m and Botanical Garden will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The same hours are in effect on Monday. The Biodôme remains closed for renovation­s and will reopen in late summer of next year.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum is open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is closed Monday as usual.

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Musée d’art contempora­in will also be open Sunday.

The Complexe sportif Claude Robillard will be closed.
