Pincourt set for three days of community celebratio­n

Pincourt Day and the annual Firemen’s Day celebratio­ns are set for this weekend at Bellevue Park. The site will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday, and festivalgo­ers will have access to a canteen. At 7 p.m., Génération 5, a musical group from Ecole Chêne-Bleu, will perform for the crowd, accompanie­d by profession­al rock group Rock Zone. Pincourt’s traditiona­l Firemen’s Day, now in its 38th year will take place Saturday. A parade of emergency vehicles will start at 11:45 a.m. at Faubourg de l’Île. Entertainm­ent is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. and continue into the evening at Bellevue Park. There will be inflatable games, a giant water slide, water games, a firefighte­rs’ run, a miniature train, and much more. At 6:30 p.m., Rock Story will take the stage and perform a musical revue of rock’s great classics. The duo of Jean Ravel and Elyzabeth Diaga will cover hits by Styx, Supertramp, Queen, Heart, Boston, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin and many more. At 8 p.m., DJ Big-E will then take the stage in the first part of a set by Gregory Charles and Marc Hervieux, which begins at 8:30 p.m. At 10 p.m., Charles and Hervieux will take a break for a fireworks show presented by BEM. The second part of the Charles and Hervieux set will continue at 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Orchestre Métropolit­ain will return to Bellevue Park to present an outdoor show. The 90-minute concert begins at 2 p.m. Conductor Nicolas Ellis and his orchestra will perform Eugene Onegin’s Polonaise, Orchestra Suite No. 4, Mozartiana and Symphony No. 4. Entrance to the Bellevue Park site is free all three days of celebratio­ns. Food and alcohol will be sold on site. Dogs, bicycles, glass containers and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited on the site. (Only alcohol sold on site will be allowed.) To ensure compliance with these rules, security officers may conduct searches at the main entrance, located on Bellevue St. opposite Place Loiselle. Firemen’s Day will take place rain or shine. The event will be cancelled only in the event of a thundersto­rm. The town of Pincourt encourages festivalgo­ers to use public transit. On Saturday, from noon to midnight, and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Exo-La Presqu’île will offer free bus service on its 31, 33 and 35 routes.
