One of the Meals on Wheels kitchens in Pierrefond­s needs a kitchen coordinato­r. Tasks include contacting new clients referred by the CLSC, scheduling, communicat­ions with the volunteer team and occasional meetings. Minimum age: 55.

Volunteer West Island is looking for a bilingual volunteer to make friendly phone calls to isolated seniors on Friday mornings from our office in SteAnne-de-Bellevue. Minimum age: 16.

Volunteers are needed on Saturday mornings at the Nova Thrift Shop in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. Tasks involve receiving and sorting donated goods, setting up displays, greeting clients, etc. Minimum age: 18.

Strangers in the Night is hosting a dinner and concert under the stars Aug. 25 to raise funds for The Miriam Foundation, Lymphoma Canada, and The West Island Women’s Shelter. This year our guests will be entertaine­d by Boy George and the Culture Club, at the gala’s new venue in Pierrefond­s. A total of 75 volunteers are needed to fill these roles: greet guests, busboys/busgirls, parking attendants, backstage crew and green team. Shifts are from 3 p.m. to midnight. Minimum age: 18.

An English-speaking Italian man in his late 70s in Baie-d’Urfé would like a male volunteer to make friendly visits. He is a very lively man who loves to be outdoors, visit the seashore and play Italian cards.

A Dollard resident in her 80s who is a former singer and dancer would love to share meaningful friendly outings with a female volunteer. She would enjoy going to art shows at the Kirkland library, and socializin­g over a cup of coffee or a meal at a restaurant. She uses a cane for assistance. She can drive short distances as well.

An 82-year old LaSalle man who speaks French would like a male volunteer for friendly home visits, social outings and short walks. He is suffering from early stage of dementia and he owns two cats.
