Point-Claire appoints two new officials for public safety
The city of Pointe-Claire announced two new appointments to its Inspection-Public Security Department.
Marc Tanguay was appointed as director of the Inspection-Public Security Department while Réjean Cauchon was named its chief of operations.
“The expertise of Mr. Tanguay and Mr. Cauchon is an asset for the city, both for continuous improvement and for the development of our services to provide an ever safer living environment for our community,” said Mayor John Belvedere.
Tanguay is a former cop. He worked for the Montreal police for nearly 29 years, serving as an officer, sergeant and then commander at district station 10 in Bordeaux, Cartierville and district station 27 in Ahuntsic. In 2008, Tanguay received the Governor General of Canada’s Award of Commendation for Bravery.
Tanguay will be responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Inspection-Public Security Department, whose members are on active duty 24/7.
Cauchon will supervise the public security activities.
A trained firefighter, Cauchon has certifications in municipal administration and civil protection after working in the municipal sector for more than 30 years. The city noted he helped manage the 1998 ice storm crisis in Pointe-Claire and the 2011 drinking water crisis.
He also supervised the development of 24-hour-a-day public security service.
