Bridge work will make for difficult drive

It will be tough for drivers heading in or out of Montreal this Oct 12-14 weekend, as construction is expected to wreak havoc for drivers heading to the Champlain and Mercier bridges.

TURCOT INTERCHANGE

Because of work on the new Champlain Bridge and its corridor, access to Highway 15 South off the southbound Décarie Expressway will be closed. The Atwater Ave. and Gaétan-Laberge Blvd. entrances to Highway 15 South will also be closed. The highway will be accessible from Nuns’ Island and from Highway 20 East, coming from Lachine and LaSalle.

As part of the work, the accesses to Highway 20 West from both the southbound Décarie and northbound Highway 15 will be closed. The northbound Décarie access will be closed from eastbound Highway 20 and from the westbound VilleMarie.

All the closures are from Friday at 11:59 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., except the Girouard Ave. access to southbound Highway 15, which will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on Friday.

SOUTH SHORE ACCESS TO THE CHAMPLAIN BRIDGE

The access to the Champlain Bridge from Route 132 will be cut off this weekend, for work on the new bridge.

Route 132 East heading to the Champlain Bridge will be closed between Exit 53 for the Champlain Bridge and the following entrance from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. Motorists can detour to Marie-Victorin Blvd. Route 132 West will be closed according to the same schedule between Exit 75 for the Champlain Bridge and the following entrance.

MERCIER BRIDGE

The Honoré Mercier Bridge will be at half capacity this weekend, as the lanes toward the South Shore will be closed for maintenance by Transport Quebec. The bridge will have one lane of traffic in each direction on the Montreal-bound side from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. The Airlie St. entrance to the bridge will also be closed, according to the same schedule.

HIGHWAY 13

The Highway 13 South access ramp from Highway 40 East will be closed from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.
