Police have yet to locate remains of man allegedly killed by bandmate
A travelling musician charged with murdering and dismembering a bandmate in the Mile End apartment they were sharing during the summer saw his case carried over to the end of October.
Raymond Henry Muller, 52, made a brief appearance Thursday before a Quebec Court judge where he was informed that the Crown has yet to turn over all of its evidence to defence attorney Lloyd Fischler.
Muller, who has been detained since his arrest early in September, simply nodded when the lawyer informed him of the delay that will move his case to Oct. 30. Prosecutor Marie-Claude Bourassa informed the court that the prosecution intends to complete its disclosure by next week.
Muller is charged with the firstdegree murder of Cedric Gagnon. The victim performed with Muller in a Montreal band called Pirates! Muller is also charged with having “improperly or indecently interfere(d) with or an indignity to the body or human remains of Cedric Gagnon whether buried or not.”
Muller was first charged on Sept. 3 but he is alleged to have killed Gagnon on July 4.
According to published reports, homicide detectives believe Gagnon’s body parts were placed in boxes and bags, left on a sidewalk and were unwittingly taken away by a garbage truck as part of a routine collection. They also believe the victim’s remains were transported to a dumpsite long before the homicide investigation began.
According to a source familiar with the investigation, the Montreal police have yet to locate the victim’s remains.
