Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation raises $8.2 million

The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation (LGHF) announced its 2016–18 Capital Campaign has raised a total of $8.2 million. The LGH fundraisin­g campaign, which exceeded its fundraisin­g goals by $200,000, is aiming to expand, modernize and improve infrastruc­tures and equipment in three priority areas of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire: the Cardiac and Intensive Care Units, Mental Health and Geriatric Units. The foundation also unveiled a new Recognitio­n Wall, designed to highlight the generosity of donors. The Recognitio­n Wall is located in the corridor of the main entrance of the hospital. “I am extremely proud to announce that at the end of our 2016–18 Capital Campaign, the LGHF has surpassed its $8-million dollar goal, thanks to the great generosity of our loyal donors and the hard work of the foundation’s outstandin­g team,” said Heather Holmes, managing director of the LGHF. “Over and above our annual campaign, which aims to raise the funds to meet the timely and functional needs of the LGH, we have embarked on this major campaign to provide our community with state-of-the-art human and compassion­ate care, close to home.” The foundation noted that the population served by the Lakeshore General has “increased five-fold since it opened in the 1960s, going from 60,000 to close to 300,000.” The LGHF, founded in 1964, also thanked the following donors for their “great generosity”: 40 Westt Steakhouse & Bar, Cedar Park Heights Men’s Softball League, City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Elsie A. Vincelli Watson, Eric T. Webster Foundation, Estate — Hélène Cooper, Estate — Marguerite Deschamps, Hydro-Québec, Lakeshore General Hospital Auxiliary, Lakeshore Light Opera, Howard Webster Foundation, Trottier Family Foundation, West Island Muslim Community.
