Spike Lee set to speak at C2 Montréal conference
Filmmaker Spike Lee will be taking part in the 2019 C2 Montréal conference. In a statement, the C2 Montréal said Lee “will lead the discussion on racial inequalities and the creative storytelling behind his powerful films.” Lee is the first speaker to be announced for the eighth edition of the business conference, which will take place from May 22 to 24 and have the theme “tomorrow.” He last appeared in Montreal in September for the city’s International Black Film Festival. During a festival news conference, he said he’d first come to Montreal on a family trip during Expo 67 and professed his fondness for the city. “Montreal has supported my films. I like Montreal, it’s very close to New York, so why wouldn’t I want to come? It’s a beautiful city.” Previous editions of C2 Montréal, which was created by the ad agency Sid Lee and Cirque du Soleil, have featured presentations from Snoop Dogg, Chelsea Manning and Steve Wozniak.
