747 OVERSHOOTS RUNWAY ON LANDING, FOUR HURT
A SkyLease Cargo 747 plane went off the runway while landing early Wednesday at Halifax’s Stanfield Airport, leaving a trail of debris and sending four crew to hospital. Airport spokeswoman Theresa Rath Spicer said it wasn’t clear what caused the accident — the third serious incident there in 15 years. “It did land and then overshot the runway,” Rath Spicer said. Fire crews quickly extinguished a small fire in the tail, she said. Two engines appeared to be attached but damaged, while two other engines were sheared off completely.
