CP Holiday Train set to make Beaconsfield stop

The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will soon be coming through the West Island to spread some Christmas cheer.

The train is set to make a stop at Beaconsfield train station on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at around 8:20 p.m.

The train will be stopped in Beaconsfield, at 104 Elm Ave., from 8:30 to 9 p.m. while musical performers Terri Clark, Sierra Noble and Kelly Prescott entertain the crowd outside.

The train will once again be brightly lit up with festive Christmas lights.

This year the CP Holiday Train celebrates 20 years of collecting food and raising funds for food banks across North America.

The CP Holiday Train program was launched in 1999 and has since raised more than $14.5 million and gathered 4.3 million pounds of food for communities along CP’s routes in Canada and the United States.

Although each event is free, CP is encouraging the general public who attend to “open their cupboards and wallets to help address hunger needs in their communities.”

“Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food this holiday season.”

CP is also encouraging fans of the train to donate “heart-healthy” food. This will support the mission of CP Has Heart, a program dedicated to improving the heart health of men, women and children in North America.

Also on Nov. 27, the Valois Village Holiday Train event returns to the Valois station in Pointe-Claire, located at 114 Donegani Ave., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Residents are invited to watch as the CP Holiday Train passes. There will be entertainment and activities offered. As well, hot chocolate and waffles will be sold on site. Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the needy.
