-

Montreal Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush signed a three-year contract, the club announced on Friday. Terms of the deal were undisclosed. In his seventh Major League Soccer season with the Impact and eighth with the club, Bush, 32, was named MLS Audi Player Index Top Goalkeeper and the team’s defensive player of the year. He led all MLS goalkeepers with 132 saves, 34 games played, 34 starts and 3,060 minutes played, and was second in the MLS with 184 shots faced, tied for third with 10 shutouts. “Evan signing a new contract with the Impact is excellent news for the future of this team,” Impact head coach Rémi Garde said in a release. “His excellent work daily with (goalkeeper coach) Joël Bats, alongside the group’s three other goalkeepers, allowed him to have a very good 2018 season. I’m happy to be able to count on him next season.” Bush was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week three times in 2018 and was voted Vidéotron Player of the Game nine times, a season-high for the bleublanc-noir. “I am very excited to continue with the Impact and that my family and I will call Montreal our home for the foreseeable future,” said Bush. “The most important aspect of the decision was making sure my wife and kids were happy. I’d like to thank the people of Montreal for accepting us as one of their own over the last eight years through the relationships we have established, making this decision an easy one for us.” Bush ranks first in team history with 163 games played, 14,589 minutes played, 2,073 shots received and 550 saves.
