Four things to watch for when the Oilers (13-11-2) tangle with the Stars (14-10-3) in Dallas:

1. Rematch

It’s tough to remember exactly what happened the last time these teams met, largely because it was such a terrible game (0-0 after 60 minutes) and most people were asleep by the midway mark of the second period. The only excitement came in OT, when the Oilers thought they were robbed on a video review before Oscar Klefbom scored again to seal it for good. Hopefully this one offers more than 90 seconds of drama.

2. Goal-line stand

It’s hard to make a case that Oilers goalie Mikko Koskinen shouldn’t get the start again. He’s played in eight (started seven) of the last 10 games but they’ve been spaced apart nicely and he’s showing no signs of fatigue, allowing three goals on 92 shots in the last 182:42. Cam Talbot didn’t play poorly in his last start, but has lost six in a row while Koskinen is 8-2-1.

3. The Ryan game

So much for any concern that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would sag after being removed from Connor McDavid’s wing. He is playing some outstanding hockey at both ends of the ice, killing penalties, drawing penalties, helping the power play to its recent hot streak and putting up five points in the last six games. He’s the best two-way player on the team, which makes him a valuable weapon in coach Ken Hitchcock’s style. Making his case If he’s going to change Hitchcock’s mind about him, Ty Rattie needed to make a strong impression in his first game back after two games in the press box, and he did. Rattie drew a penalty and helped set up Edmonton’s game-winning goal in the third period against Vegas on Saturday. He played 9:38, his highest total under Hitchcock and finished plus-one with four shots on net. That has to be enough to get him another look in Dallas.
