BILODEAU, Marcel

-

1933 - 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marcel Bilodeau on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the age of 86, from Covid-19, at Résidences Les Floralies Lachine. Born on June 10, 1933, in Montreal, he was the eldest of 6 children. He was predeceased by his mother, Amanda Gingras and father, Philippe Bilodeau and is reunited with siblings Roger, Jeannine, and Denise. He leaves in profound sadness his three daughters, Carole (Claude), Linda (Kevin), and Louise (Marc), as well as former wife, Florina Aubert. He was the proud grandfather of Catherine Anne, Olivier, Elizabeth, Victoria, Liam, Seleste, and Taishan. He also leaves siblings, Claude and Nicole (Gilles), in mourning.

Marcel cherished family and friends, and will be remembered for his good-natured humour. He valued hard-work; he was a dedicated employee at the Montreal Gazette for 40 years. His daughters hold dear memories of camping and travelling every summer to Percé. His grandchildren will fondly remember his beautiful smile and warm embrace. He was always ready to lend a hand to any home project with his sons-in-law and extended family. He travelled far and wide, from Alaska to Newfoundland and France to Thailand. His strong faith played an important role in his life. He was also grateful for the simple pleasures: nature gazing, walking, golfing, reading, eating, and family gatherings.

We extend gratitude to all who cared and supported him throughout his final years as he struggled with dementia.

Due to the pandemic, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. We know that Marcel will smile from above when he sees family and friends gathering in his honour.
