Five Hills recognizes long service and retirements

-

The Five Hills Health Region recently honored long-serving staff members and retirees during the annual long service and retiree dinner held in Moose Jaw.

Forty-four retirees and 93 individuals who have worked with the region continuously for increments of 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years were recognized including staff from Assiniboia, Central Butte, Craik, Gravelbourg, Lafleche, Moose Jaw, and Rockglen. Stuart Cunningham, FHHR executive director of human resources said it is important to take these types of opportunities to recognize employees for their service. “In an otherwise very busy environment, these award ceremonies are a great opportunity for employees to come together and celebrate the dedication to excellence that we see across the region and to recognize the ongoing loyalty of our existing workforce as well as the significant contributions of our recently retired workforce. We need to recognize this kind of loyalty and commitment to quality patient care and service in whatever way we can.” CEO Cheryl Craig said the importance of the employees’ contributions cannot be adequately expressed in words. “You have impacted so many patients, clients, residents, and co-workers in ways that are not always measureable.” Craig emphasized the challenge of working in healthcare. “You have cared for individuals at a time when they were vulnerable, from seeing the birth of a newborn to caring for someone at the end of their life journey. It really does require many special gifts and attributes to respond to this calling of healthcare.” Five Hill’s team of more than 1,800 staff and physicians offers a variety of community and facility based programs and services across the region. This team provides services to more than 53,000 residents in 40 urban and rural municipalities.
