Educational accomplishments were celebrated recently by many Moose Jaw and area graduates of the University of Regina. Permits values were bolstered by two apartment projects. Jonathon Blanchard of Blanchard Holdings was issued a $3 million building permit for three buildings that will have 28 affordable housing units. 7he project on Maple 6treet (ast will be one of the first affordable housing projects to take advantage of provincial and city incentives for housing development. KJJ Developments of Moose Jaw was issued a $1.7 million permit to build a multi-family dwelling at 944 Montgomery St. Residential housing development continued to account for the bulk of construction with 27 new homes worth almost $7.4 million. That compares with eight new homes last May worth $2.3 million. &oventry Homes is building a $1.24 million home for Byron Babich in the Iron Bridge Estates properties. Four homes were started in May in Iron Bridge Estates. Five were started in West Heath on South Hill with three in West Park just north of Thatcher Drive West. Five new mobile home permits were issued for the Double J Investments development on Ninth Avenue Northeast. Paice &onstruction took out a $537,000 permit for an expansion at the Simpson Seeds processing plant north of the Trans-Canada Highway. Dew Home Renovations of Moose Jaw took out a $60,000 permit to alter space for a pharmacy at the mall at 1235 Main St. N. for Dustin Funk. Smitty’s /ounge got an $8,000 permit for an outdoor deck at the mall. Demolition permits included one for a chicken coop at 1110 Simcoe St. Building permit values for the year are up by 21 per cent to $28.88 million from $13 million last year.
