Warriors finish road trip with huge win
Home, sweet home at last...
The Moose Jaw Warriors completed their longest road trip of the season with their most lopsided win at the very end of it. The Warriors won 9-1 in Medicine Hat 9-1 Friday, thanks to a four goal effort from Tanner Jeannot after a pair of road games completed their U.S. Division trip. Wednesday, they lost 8-4 to the Tri-City Americans and Tuesday they beat the Portland Winterhawks 6-4.
Jayden Halbgewachs’ empty net goal Tuesday restored the Warriors’ two goal lead for good as the team handed Portland only their second loss of the season. Halbgewachs also helped out with four assists in the game as Brett Howden added a pair. Single markers were notched by Jeannot, Jett Woo and Luka Burzan. Brody Willms stopped 43 of 47 Portland shots in the game.
The following night they battled the Tri-City Americans and surrendered four third period goals. Woo, Howden, Justin Almeida and Oleg Sosunov scored for Moose Jaw, with Brayden Burke chipping in a pair of assists. Willms turned aside 29 in the loss.
The Warriors closed out their road dealings with a blowout victory over Medicine Hat, scoring early and often in the process. Jeannot’s four goals were complemented by Howden’s pair of markers, Justin Almeida’s goal and three assists and Halbgewachs’ goal and two assists. Burke had three assists in the game and Willms halted 34 of Medicine Hat’s 35 shots.
The Warriors only play a pair of games this week, both against Prince Albert: Thursday at home at Mosaic Place and Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre.
