For the first time, Spring Valley Community Hall will be hosting “A Country Christmas Craft and Bake Sale” on Saturday, November 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Hall is located in the heart of the scenic Cactus and Dirt Hills, approximately 55 kilometers (40 miles) south of Moose Jaw and 25 kilometers (15 miles) southwest of the Claybank Brick Plant National Historic site.

The Spring Valley Community Hall Board says they are happy to bring this event to community members and those from surrounding areas. “It is the first year for the event. We are a newly elected board for the Spring Valley and District Interpretive Centre and Community Hall. This is a fundraising event for the Community Hall. All proceeds will be directed to winter maintenance and repairs for the hall,” said president, Patricia McKibben. “Before I became president, I had thought about doing an event such as this in the hall. The idea was to provide an opportunity for local men and women to showcase their arts and crafts.” The event promises to be an exciting one featuring many artists and local bakers and farmers, a few also from Moose Jaw. It is also a chance to grab all kinds of Christmas gifts for family and friends!

A local farmer is going to provide locally produced honey and baking. Another local farmer is selling her Famous Country Jelly Rolls and Cowboy Christmas Wreaths. There will also be embroidered bath towels & tea towels with horses/tractors/etc, quilted stockings, flax bags, messy bun hats, quilt ladders, custom-made bed frames, quilted pillows, homemade Christmas cards, Gold Canyon Candles, Rustic Home Décor and, Succulent Plant Boxes. Persons can also enjoy homemade chocolates and candies, Steeped Tea, Fifth Avenue Collection, Stella and Dot, Signature Homestyles and Home Décor. Moose Jaw business owner, Mike Thul from Pastimes Antique Photography and Gifts, will be setting up a Christmas tree to display products from his store for purchase. There is something for everyone on your Christmas Shopping list! Each vendor is donating a gift towards the Penny Parade table. Lunch and tickets for the penny parade can be purchased at the Hall. Children will also get to enjoy fun treats and activities as there will be a cookie table where they can decorate cookies and take them home, or enjoy them with a cup of hot chocolate. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting from 2:30pm4:30pm. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and take pictures of their children. There will be lunch available to purchase including assorted homemade soups, chili, homemade buns, tea, coffee, and apple cider.

“We are hoping this will become an annual event and that more people will want to participate in it. We encourage people to contact us if they wish to participate next year. The board is very excited to host future events and hopes everyone will come out to join in the fun,” added Pat.
