A Sure Word

- By Wanda Smith

In the day and age when the foundations of truth are eroding and the moral lines are being blurred, we must be on guard to what enters our minds and hearts. Information is everywhere. The challenge for us is to be able to discern the facts from the truth... the politically correct from the truth... and even the laws from the truth. The question may arise in your mind? What really is the truth? How can we really know what the truth is in this modern age? There are many arguments I can put as to why I believe the Word of God is the ultimate Truth we must base our life upon. Ultimately, I can tell you that God is a never-changing God in an everchanging world: “I am the LORD, and I do not change.” I can assure you that He “will never leave you nor forsake you.” I can take you to scriptures that promise that His Word is sure and steadfast such as: “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him...” and “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” I can also assure you that the Word of God has the final authority in the spirit realm: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.” I can try to convince you by a wellwritten article stating all the reasons why God is the foundation of all truth; however, I will not even attempt it. What I will attempt is to challenge you to ask God to prove Himself to you instead. I assure you WHEN you encounter God, you WILL KNOW the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you free! Paul couldn’t have written these verses more clearly to show you what is in my heart for you... “My brothers and sisters, when I first came to proclaim to you the secrets of God, I refused to come as an expert, trying to impress you with my eloquent speech and lofty wisdom. For I was intentionally consumed with one topic – Jesus, the crucified Messiah. I stood before you feeling inadequate, filled with reverence for God, and trembling under the sense of the importance of my words. The message I preached and how I preached it was not an attempt to sway you with persuasive arguments but to prove to you the almighty power of God’s Holy Spirit. For God intended that your faith not be established on man’s wisdom but by trusting in His Almighty power.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Dear friends, take the challenge to ask God to show Himself to you. Moses prayed “Show me Your glory.” Dare to risk hearing from God! Dare to risk stepping out in faith to ask if He is real. Dare to ask Him to reveal Himself. He is waiting... He is longing... He is knocking on the door of your heart but you must be the one to open the door. Scripture references: Malachi 3:6, Proverbs 30:5, Matthew 24:35
