- Sasha-Gay Lobban

The third McDonald’s restaurant in Moose Jaw will be open for business this Friday, November 24th with a weekend-long Grand Opening Celebration filled with activities! The new restaurant, located at 1585 – 9th Avenue North East (at the corner of Thatcher Drive East and 9th Avenue) will be opening its doors for the first time at 7:00 a.m. There will be lots of activities throughout the weekend, as well as specials on some of your favourite meals, including 20 Nuggets for $5 (plus tax); any size Coffee for $1 (plus tax); Filet-o-Fish Meal at $3.99 (plus tax), as well as 3.99 (plus tax) on all the Kids Happy Meals.

The restaurant is the newest McDonald’s across Canada and the first to have Kitchen Revolution—decked out with high tech appliances for the preparation of your favourite meals. Owner Doug Dooley says the staff have been training at the other restaurant for two months and are ready to serve McDonald’s loyal customers with the same excellent service that they receive at any one of their locations.

Doug and Marilyn Dooley operate five (5) McDonald’s restaurants: three in Moose Jaw and two in Swift Current. He says he is looking forward to the grand opening of the newest store, which will be an action-packed weekend for the whole family. “We have specials all weekend. We will be live on the radio from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“This restaurant will be the newest one in Canada, called Kitchen Revolution,” said Doug. “We are the first one [McDonald’s] in Canada to have Kitchen Revolution. It’s easier on the crew, everything is high tech and there is a lot of room for food preparation.”

The McDonald’s team will be out bright and early ready to serve you! “We’re looking pretty good for our Grand Opening and we can’t wait for people to stop by to see our newest restaurant. We’ll be wide open—running for 24 hours per day/7 days a week and our drive-thru will also be open for business.” The restaurant holds 74 seats, as well as an accommodatingly large drive-thru. The primary mascot of the McDonald’s chain, Ronald McDonald will make a guest appearance at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26th to provide a little entertainment for the kids.

The Dooley’s thank Moose Jaw and Area for their continued support throughout the years and looks forward to many more years of serving the communities. “My wife and I would like to thank everybody from Moose Jaw and surrounding areas for supporting us for 20 years. We also want to thank the crew and all the managers who care about the restaurant. Over the years, we’ve had the support of our great staff who make all of this possible through their hard work and dedication. That is very important for our business. We care about them and it’s a family here at McDonald’s. I have staff that have been with us from the start and we really appreciate and thank them. Our staff here is amazing and their dedication is second to none.”

It will be an exciting weekend to come out to the new location, enjoy the specials and get in on some of the fun! Doug and Marilyn thank you again for your patronage over the years and are looking forward to serving you at their newest location, as well as all the others.
