A Look inside Sask. Polytechnic
Saskatchewan Polytechnic continues to produce some of the best local and international students who move on to become top experts in their fields because of the world class training they receive at the institution.
The post-secondary institution serves over 10,000 students through applied learning opportunities at campuses in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon, and through extensive distance education opportunities. Programs serve every economic and public service sector with 19% of the student body declaring themselves as having indigenous ancestry. The institution says this percentage (indigenous ancestry) is nearly 3,700 students more than any post-secondary institution in the province.
If you are looking for an institution that provides the best training especially in technical fields, Sask. Polytechnic is the institution of choice. It provides hands-on training and contributes to students’ holistic development that is not just limited to academic achievements. The Moose Jaw Campus, located at Saskatchewan St. and 6th Ave. NW, is home to more than 1300 students and approximately 300 employ- ees. The campus boasts 14 Co-operative Educations Programs, along with stateof-the-art lab facilities for seven (7) engineering technology programs. Moose Jaw Campus offers programs in the following schools: School of Business; School of Construction; School of Hospitality & Tourism; School of Information & Communications Technology; School of Mining, Energy & Manufacturing; School of Natural Resources & Built Environment and School of Transportation.
In total, there are 47 programs available at the Moose Jaw Campus. This includes 24 Certificate, diploma and degree programs, 13 Applied Certificate, 2 Post Graduate Certificate and 8 in Literacy and Adult Education. According to a Satisfaction Survey Report of 2014-15, Sask. Polytechnic Moose Campus also boasts a 94% satisfaction rate of classroom facilities; 89% satisfaction rate with their programs and 83% would recommend the institution’s programs to others while 80% say they would choose to attend Sask. Polytechnic again.
The top-notch, superior training that students receive at the institution’s state-of- the-art facilities, allows them to become sought-after prospective employees. A 2017 Graduate Follow-up Survey shows that 92% of Sask. Polytechnic graduates find employment within six months. It also says almost 97% of employers will hire a Sask. Polytechnic grad again. Sask. In June 1959 Saskatchewan Technical Institute (STI) gained possession of the former Teachers’ College in Moose Jaw. On September 15, STI opened in this facility with 26 employees and 526 students enrolled in technology, industrial, apprenticeship, unemployed training and upgrading programs. STI is one of the post-secondary institutions that now makes up Sask. Polytech.
