ROTARY CAROL FESTIVAL
The Moose Jaw Rotary Club hosted its 73rd annual Rotary Carol Festival from December 11th to December 13th, at Zion United Church. For three thrilling evenings, the packed audience enjoyed the sounds of the season.
School choirs from across the city, as well as community choirs, performed a host of Christmas songs, showcasing their talents and their love for this favourite time of the year. The audience even got into the Spirit of the Season by singing Christmas Carols throughout the program. The Rotary Carol Festival has been a greatly loved annual event since 1945, as students have the opportunity to perform in front of large audiences. Over the years, the Festival has evolved to include local bands and other groups performing selections. Free-will offerings were collected with all proceeds going back into Rotary community projects, such as scholarships and donations to local organizations.
The Rotary Club says “the success of the Carol Festival rests with the schools, church and community individuals and groups who perform at the Festival and share their musical joy and expertise with the nightly audience. The Rotary Club Carol Festival has the support of the school system and community music folks, as well as Zion United Church, where the event takes place.”
The Club acknowledges the cooperation of the groups and people who have contributed to the success of the Carol Festival and extends a thank you to the Prairie South School Division, the directors, the accompanists, and the individuals and groups whose participation makes this annual festival a success.
