Dancing the night away for a great cause!

-

The Jobransa Foundation is hosting a Winter Wonderland Ball at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa on December 31, 2017. The hope is to have up to 100 supporters and members of the business community attend the event.

Annual fundraisers such as these greatly impact the work Jobransa is able to do at their Learning Centre for Children with Disabilities. The funds raised this year will be going to their Sensory Room Campaign. A Sensory Room is an important part of this centre, where sensory stimulation is provided to children who either require a place to calm down or a place to recharge their batteries. A place in the building is being provided that will have lights, textures, sounds and scents that can be adjusted to meet the needs of each child who utilizes the space.

Background:

Kids in Motion was founded by the Jobransa Centre in downtown Moose Jaw and is dedicated to giving children with all abilities in our community the educational experience they deserve. They pride ourselves in helping children of special needs and their families in a holistic manner.

There are no other programs in this community like this offered; hosting programs and learning mentors for children of special needs, giving children of all abilities a place to fit in and experience extra-curricular activities they wouldn’t otherwise get. There is a large service gap for children with special needs in our community and Jobransa’s goal is to fill this gap by offering programs, counselling, respite, recreational activities, and networking opportunities for community families. This gives the children who use these services a place to fit in, in a comfortable, social and friendly environment. There is no judgment, bullying, or feeling left out, which is a huge relief to both the children and their families.

One such child shared that they had “finally found a place to belong and feel accepted.”

Kids in Motion Mission Statement: Adapting an individual program that strives to achieve academic excellence. Jobransa Mission Statement: Strives to connect children with illness, special needs, and their families with resources necessary to give their child the best quality of life possible.
