- Sasha-Gay Lobban

Moose Jaw welcomed its first baby of the year on New Year’s Day at 4:07p.m. at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.

Jamison and Ashley Drummond welcomed their baby girl, first called affectionately ‘Baby D’, then officially named Winter. She weighed 10 lbs 2 oz and is 22 inches long.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome our new bundle of joy. My wife is relieved to finally have her born. She (Ashley) did a great job. We have a super healthy baby and our family is so happy,” said the elated dad. Little Drummond was the only baby born on New Year’s Day. To welcome the first baby of 2018, the family was presented with gifts on behalf of D&D Quality Care, Moose Jaw Right to Life, Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the hospital’s volunteer department. Jean Landry from Moose Jaw Right to Life said, “We like to acknowledge and welcome our New Year’s baby with a little gift from our group. We have been doing this for many years since the organization was established back in the 70s. We are always grateful to do this for families.” She says Moose Jaw Right to life also gives away free baby clothing to families across the city every month and is inviting anyone to contact the organization if they need baby clothing. “We would like persons to know that ev- ery fourth Wednesday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., we have free baby clothing giveaways to all moms in the city—any mom, they don’t have to be new moms, just any mom or grandma that need clothes for babies. These are all free that are brought in through donations from members of the community.” Persons can visit Moose Jaw Right to Life at 107B Main St. N.
