Canada’s Pink Floyd PIGS coming to Moose Jaw

-

British Rock Band of the 60’s and 70’s Pink Floyd make an indelible mark on the 60’s and 70’s with their cultic following and psychedelic music. They are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history. Their music lives on, as Canada’s Pink Floyd (PIGS) winds up to take the show on the road again in 2018 with the second leg of a 12 week – 45-date tour. On the last leg of the concert schedule, the tour started out at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo in September and took the band all across Canada as far as Sydney, Nova Scotia. The second leg of the ‘LEFT + RIGHT Canada Tour’ will feature stops in Saskatchewan, BC and Alberta, and will take the band to over 15 cities half way across the country and back. PIGS will be making its debut performance in Moose Jaw on Saturday, February 24th at the Mae Wilson Theatre. Knowing that there is a large contingent of Pink Floyd lovers out there, people are encouraged to get their tickets as early as possible for this one-ofa-kind debut in the Friendly City. “Every show on this tour has been amazing and we’ve been honored to share our love of the Floyd with so many fans,” says Josh Szczepanowski (band leader/David Gilmour role), “The crowds were great and really love what we are doing.” Over the past few years, PIGS has toured BC and Alberta extensively, playing for fans in numerous cities. Having won the hearts of Floyd fans coast to coast, PIGS will soon be heading across the border into the US, with Pacific and East Coast tours in the works, as well as tour plans for Asia and Europe. “People always say you should find a job you love – and we really love what we do,” says Szczepanowski. At a number of stops on their tour, PIGS invited local youth choirs to join them on stage to sing, “Another Brick in the Wall – Part 2”, from Pink Floyd album, “The Wall”. Their collaboration with the choirs was a real treat for the audience, and a great experience for the kids – as well as one of the most memorable tour moments for the band. “The crowds went crazy whenever the kids started singing”, says Szczepanowski. “We love the concept of inviting the local community into our show; and on stage we all get a real boost watching the kids perform!” Formed in 2008 in Victoria, BC, PIGS is Canada’s Most Authentic Pink Floyd Tribute and it honours Pink Floyd’s music like no other tribute. They have spent 9 years meticulously getting the sound and gear right to re-create the live sound and concert experience of the 70s Pink Floyd and have been perfecting their craft in front of sold out audiences throughout Canada. The band will perform selections from the entire Floyd catalog, including a few special surprises from Floyd solo records. In addition to classics from legendary albums like Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall, the band will showcase material that has rarely—if ever—been performed live by Pink Floyd. Tickets have been on sale since Monday, December 18th for the PIGS concert to be held at the Mae Wilson Theatre on February 24th. Cost is $36pp + service charges and can be purchased at Moose Jaw Cultural Centre Box Office 217 Main Street N, by phone (306) 693-4700 or online at www.moosejawculture.ca
