Collectibles show features loads of interesting stuff to buy/see

- By Ron Walter For Moose Jaw Express

Something for everybody: that is the promise for folks visiting the annual Moose Jaw Antiques/Collectibles and Vehicle Parts Sale this weekend. Buyers and visitors at the two-day show will have 189 tables from over 100 exhibitors to browse over.

The negotiations and haggling on prices will run from antique car parts and licence plates to cast iron models of tractors and vintage vehicles.

Jewelry, artwork, toys, old household items, glass work, dishes, toys, comics, books and long-playing records make up part of the merchandise.

The sales tables represent all parts of the collectible and antique hobby sector from retail dealers to serious and starting collectors to estates and downsizing households. Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum, sponsor of the event at the Moose Jaw Exhibition grounds, has displays of the museum south of the city.

Tables sold out in less than two weeks after becoming available as the event’s interest grows every year from what started as a swap meet for old car parts around 40 years ago.

The show is Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. Doors open at noon Friday until 8 p.m. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Vendors are from Moose Jaw and all over Saskatchewan with a few from out of province. A central Saskatchewan antique store operator, here for the first-time last year, is returning.

Admission is $6 for adults. Children under 15 who are accompanied by an adult get in free.
