RCAF Jazz Combo headlined fifth annual Fellowship concert
Music fans in Moose Jaw were entertained for the fifth consecutive year by the Swing Concert at Timothy Eaton Gardens.
For just over two hours, the sound of various musical genres filled the air in the auditorium.
Headliner was the RCAF Jazz Combo band from Winnipeg with vocalist Sgt. David Grenon. Grenon also sang O Canada at the Warriors’ game on Snowbirds night.
The Canadian Military Wives Choir of Moose Jaw showcased some of the talent from the folks at 15 Wing. The group was formed to enjoy music in the community.
Flight instructor Capt. Rich MacDougall from 15 Wing flew out the tunes with rock, pop and country songs. A frequent talent show performer, MacDougall has recorded with Juno award winners. Students from Grades Nine to 12 in the Vanier Collegiate Chamber Choir expressed their talents in varied tunes. Sydney Sperling, a Grade 12 Peacock Collegiate singer, entertained with pieces she will sing at the upcoming music festival.
Rounding out the afternoon was Ted McHolm and Kelly Sapergia of Moose Jaw. The popular Sapergia’s piano playing had the audience of about 100 tapping their toes.
The concert was organized by the 15 Wing Fellowship, a committee that promotes enhanced base community relations. Pilot cadets from 15 Wing volunteered with one female senior describing them as “hunks”
Funds from the concert military families.
The next Fellowship event is at 15 Wing on July15 with a car show, aerial demonstration and concert.
