What’s with the BUS…

-

Many of you have probably seen the vintage bus on the former lot of the Moose Jaw Times Herald downtown location at 44 Fairford Street West, now home to the Moose Jaw Express. What’s the deal…? Four years ago, the Moose Jaw Express expressed an interest in a downtown moosejawtourism.com location. As a publication and newspaper business, we believe as citizens and business owners in Moose Jaw, it’s in our vested interest to promote Moose Jaw’s finer points. It was not until this year, the Moose Jaw Express has been able to secure an agreement to use the Little Chicago Bus as a source for tourist information. The bus will be used primarily as a tourist information booth, open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, from May long-weekend to September long-weekend.

This is not a small task, in itself.

“The information hosts will be semi-retired or retired long-time residents of Moose Jaw, who are able to share stories, talk intelligently and promote our business partners in the Explore Moose Jaw publication, which is in its 7th year as the obvious goto-guide for Moose Javians and visitors to Moose Jaw”, said Bob Calvert, bus co-or- dinator. “We are still looking for staff to help man the booth, so if you are interested, just stop in and chat with me.”

The team at the Express has also developed a new Pocket Map and a full-line of Promotional Products that will be available at the Little Chicago Information Bus, as well as the interested supporting partner businesses of the Explore Moose Jaw publication. Wait ‘til you see the cool products that not only will visitors enjoy, but you will want them for your own personal collection, as well.

Partners of the publication will also be able to add gifts, discount coupons and information about their businesses into a gift bag that will be made available for FREE to OVERNIGHT STAYS in Moose Jaw. “We have a value already that exceeds $50,” said Calvert, “and that will only continue to grow.”

Business supporters will also be able to put their business rack cards and flyers on the bus, for tourists and guests to our city. “We can design and print those, too, for you business at a discounted price,” he chuckled.

With the addition of picture cut-outs for Fun Memorable Moose Jaw Photo Moments and an Archive of interesting photos in the basement of the new location of Moose Jaw Express at 44 Fairford St. W, it will be a fun and interactive place for visitors to begin their visit to enjoy Moose Jaw. There’s much more planned that hasn’t been advertised. Our business at Moose Jaw Express is to bring folks into Moose Jaw, so we can continue to grow and become a destination point, rather than a drive-through location. Working with Visitmoosejaw.ca, we share the same vision in making Moose Jaw a destination hub of activity.

It’s going to be a fun summer for Moose Jaw Express, our business partners in the Explore Moose Jaw Magazine and the Little Chicago Information Bus. If you have not hooked up with us yet, time is running out to get your full-color advertisement in the glossy magazine. If you need Explore Moose Jaw Magazines or Pocket Maps for your event, homecoming or visiting guests, be sure to book them in advance. Copies will be available before the end of April this year.

Here’s to a great Summer in Moose Jaw!
