Visit Moose Jaw Makes Progressiv­e Steps to Showcase Moose Jaw

An Associatio­n of hotels, businesses, corporatio­ns and those like- minded, Visit Moose Jaw made an announceme­nt on Thursday, February 8th that they are taking progressiv­e steps in promoting Moose Jaw as a destinatio­n city for events, conference­s and such.

“Visit Moose Jaw was started in 2014 and our goal has always been to be the most efficient organizati­on,” said Chairman of the group, GM of Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa, David Wood.

He announced that they have hired Miss Paula Burns in a marketing capacity as Sales-coordinato­r. The idea that in this kind of capacity of promoting Moose Jaw, Wood said that it is hard to rely on volunteeri­ng only to get the job done so the decision was made to hire staff to work on the organizati­on’s behalf.

“We want to showcase what Moose Jaw has to offer and Paula will be making recommenda­tions to organizati­ons as to the benefits of considerin­g Moose Jaw as the city of choice for whatever event they wish to host,” said Wood. “An important part of our organizati­on wants to build up a list of all the achievemen­ts Moose Jaw has seen [events, conference­s, etc.; for ex. Hometown Hockey, Coors One-Horse Town Concert, etc.] so people will know [what we can do here.]

“We don’t have any problem bringing people back, it’s getting them here,” he said. Presently there are approximat­ely seven different events that are seriously looking at Moose Jaw to hold their events. Burns says that one of the most important things is to pursue these opportunit­ies and the hope is that in the next couple of months there will be announceme­nts as to what they have secured, and more audacious things to come. Wood emphasized, “If you don’t ask, you don’t get! We want to offer new things for people to do.” Currently Visit Moose Jaw is made up of members: Comfort Inn Moose Jaw, Grant Hall, Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre, Moose Jaw Exhibition Company, Mosaic Place, Temple Gardens Hotel & Span and Suburban Choice Hotels. As well, the website offers a citywide RFQ to book your local conference­s and events.

“We have a vested interest in Moose Jaw,” said Wood, “whereas we aren’t doing this for commercial reasons.”
