HELEN REMPEL

Born and raised in Carrot River, Sask., Helen lived there for the first 25 years of her life. In 1985 she moved to Portage La Prairie, Man., where she met her husband Terry. They have a teenage son, Nathan, who hopes to become a police officer. Helen owns her own cleaning business, as well as doing part-time stock photograph­y. Her favourite themes to photograph include ranch and farm images, or anything with a rustic feel. Turn to page 8 to see her haunting images of Prairie ghost towns in Before They Fall. Her other hobbies include sewing, singing and taking long walks with her family.

SUE COLEMAN

Born and educated in England, Sue married a Canadian and immigrated to Canada in 1967 to raise a family. Having received a distinctio­n for her artwork at Cambridge during her school years, Sue continued to pursue the arts in Canada and now maintains a studio in the community of Cowichan Bay on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. She draws inspiratio­n from the nature and beauty that surrounds her, has a passion for Indigenous myths and legends, and is a strong supporter of environmen­tal causes. GARY GRAHAM

Gary was born in Cochrane, Ont., but has called Ottawa home since he was 12 years old. While some may say he has grown soft living in the city for so long, being out in the bush is still where he is happiest. Read his touching It’s Tradition story on page 40 about how he came to love fishing. His love of nature has also steered his career path towards sustainabi­lity, helping businesses protect the environmen­t. Gary lives on the edge of Ottawa’s Greenbelt with his wife, Amy, and two children, Brynn and William—with another on the way in October!

IAN & CHARLENE JACKSON

Ian was born in Athabasca, Alta., and grew up on the farm where for he and his family still reside. Aside from farming, Ian takes on additional work locally. He met his wife Charlene (nee Noskiye) at their local church, Shiloh Tabernacle, and they were married in 2001. They now have three grown daughters, three teenage sons, and six grandchild­ren. Ian holds a BA of Theology, as does Charlene. Understand­ably, the Holy Land is a source of inspiratio­n for both of them.
