More of Our Canada

In Our Words

- Gary George, gary_ george@ rd. com

With 2018 exiting stage left and 2019 commanding the spotlight, I find myself wondering, do most Canadians still make New Year’s resolutions? It’s been a long- standing tradition for many, one in which honouring the resolutions can actually be easier than preparing the list of resolutions in the first place. Doing so calls for a certain amount of introspection and selfawareness, an admission to yourself that you are not perfect (in spite of what your ego is no doubt shouting in your ear internally), and that there are certain areas of your life, or your approach to life, that could do with some improvement. No matter who you are, where you come from or what you do for a living, that type of self-honesty is never easy to achieve.

Sharing your quest for self-improvement with family members and friends can help you attain your objective... which brings me to the main point of this letter. As the new year unfolds, our editorial and art team will be looking for ways to gradually improve the overall design and readability of the magazine, as well as the various categories of reader-written content we put before you. Rest assured, we already know—and appreciate—that both Our Canada and More of Our Canada are extremely well received by our loyal readership, so we’re simply talking about a few design and content “tweaks.” And, since OC and MOC are your magazines, we would like you to be a part of this process of self-evaluation and self-improvement. So, as 2019 dawns, kindly resolve to email me your comments and suggestions for improvement. Happy New Year, everyone!
