ANN LANE

Ann makes her home in Cobourg, Ont., a beautiful beach town on the shores of Lake Ontario. Her husband, Jeremy, runs a constructi­on business and their two teenaged kids, Olivia and Evan, are both award-winning photograph­ers! Ann, a home daycare provider, truly loves spending time with children, and finds their genuine happiness to be inspiring; she says they remind her that kindness and compassion go a long way. Ann also loves photograph­y and being in the great outdoors, welcoming any opportunit­y to get outside and explore. And she has explored many wonderful places! Turn to page 8 to enjoy her photo essay, “Where the Road Takes Us.”

JAMIE HUGHES

Jamie is the proud mom of three beautiful girls, Taylor, Sophie and Ava, and wife to her husband, Von. She has also been the owner and operator of a daycare for the past 20 years. A “Cariboo, B.C., girl” since the age of four, she has always loved the outdoors and spent her childhood exploring forests, camping and going on road trips. Now she and her family explore as much as they can on weekends, travelling as far as four hours away to see some incredible sights! Turn to page 20 to read her Our Travels piece about beautiful Canim Falls. Jamie plans to remain in the Cariboo, and one day retire in this her favourite place on the entire planet.

JOSIAH NELSON

Josiah was born on May 29, 1994, and raised in Moose Jaw, Sask., where he’s worked on farms, in a meadery and at a local library. In 2018, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and now works as an educationa­l assistant. His writing has appeared in Exclaim!, Toast Lifestyle Magazine and The Rumpus, among others. In Destinatio­ns on page 56, Josiah writes about the cathartic reunion he had with his brother, Josh, who had moved to Taiwan the year previously during a troubling time in Josiah’s life. ALBORZ MOGHIMI

Being the son of a first generation immigrant and business owner, Abraham Moghimi, Alborz grew up inspired by his father’s constant display of hard work, determinat­ion and joy. From an early age, Alborz’s dream was to work with his father at his car lot in Thornhill, Ont., helping him sell used cars and trucks. Now an adult, Alborz says working with his father has taught him the tremendous satisfacti­on of hard work, dedication and contributi­ng towards the Canadian dream.
