The Little Tractor That Could

- By Alborz Moghimi, Thornhill, Ont.

Its makeover complete, this MF1105 is now back to work—at 50!

This is the story of a little red Canadian tractor that fed the world. In late 2019, a Massey-ferguson 1105 was brought into A & A Trucks, which has been owned and operated by my father Abraham Moghimi for more than 30 years. The old workhorse arrived at A & A from the property of a farmer just outside of Toronto named Omar, who is a friend of my dad’s mechanic, Mike. The iconic Canadian tractor was built on Davenport Road in Toronto five decades ago; Omar began working his fields with it in 1998 and never stopped. It was displaying its age and wear and tear, to say the least. With the help and support of my father, myself, detailer Gus and bodyman Dodung, Mike accepted and led the restoration challenge—and what an amazing result!

The MF 1105 is now back to work, demonstrating Canada’s can-do attitude and helping to feed people across the country and around the world.
