The model at Tridel’s Argento building in Don Mills uses a grey-blue palette for a calming vibe By Lisa Van de Ven

“Cool, calm and collected” is how designer Stella Salvador describes Model Suite 505 at Tridel’s North York project, Argento. She kept the furniture tailored and the sightlines open, maximizing the unit’s 722-square-foot size. Meanwhile, the colour palette of greys and blues stays on trend, paired with light floors and off-white walls. “That colour scheme is very hot right now,” says the principal interior designer with developer Tridel Corp. “It’s almost like a coastal colour palette, so it’s almost like your cottage in the city.” The result is a unit where a younger couple or single resident might feel at home. “That’s what I was aiming for,” she adds. Remaining suites at Argento range from 550 to 860 square feet and start at $366,000. The sales office is located at 18 Graydon Hall Dr., North York and open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends and holidays from noon to 6 p.m. Call 416663-1818 or visit tridel.com.

“Everything is tailored, clean. We didn’t want anything oversized here,” Salvador says of the living room furniture, including this tufted chair. Taking a modern turn on a retro look, the chair’s light-blue, faux suede upholstery is paired with dark legs that contrast with the lighter floors below.

“Usually we go with more textures, but this time we added something with pattern,” the designer says of this area rug from Elte. The colours found throughout the living room come together in the geometric pattern, set against a cream-coloured backdrop. “It gives visual interest to the room.”

Two small dark tables from West Elm are combined to create a single coffee table — but can easily be separated again for versatile use. “It gives you flexibility in how you arrange your furniture,” Salvador says, while the geometric shape mimics the pattern in the area rug.

“We used a round shape because it allows for better circulation in the space,” Salvador says of the dining room table, which features a walnut top set on a metal base. It’s surrounded by ebony chairs and topped with a dramatic black light fixture from Union Lighting.

“For durability and maintenance, it works really well,” Salvador says of the laminate cabinetry she opted for in the kitchen. The medium wood tone, meanwhile, flows well with the suite’s overall colour scheme. “With such an open space, all the elements have to relate to one another.”

Granite kitchen countertops integrate colour tones found throughout the living and kitchen spaces. “It ties it all in,” the designer says, while a glossy taupe-toned subway tile backsplash reflects the under-cabinet lighting above, creating a brighter, lighter feel. Stainless- steel appliances complete the look.
