Re: The High Church Of Global Warming, Rex Murphy; When Fads Become Crusades, Conrad Black, Dec. 12. When primitive people worshipped the sun, earth, air, water, God sent Moses to give us the Ten Commandments, the first of which stipulates: “I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have strange gods before you.” What a strange god the environment is. We need Moses now to protect us from the Al Gores, David Suzukis and other false prophets.

Dan Ogle, North Saanich, B. C.

An underlying theme Rex Murphy uses in his article will be lost on the believers and clergy of the “High Church of Global Warming.” The same people who jetted off to Paris, spewing carbon all over the place, and spending millions ( billions) on hotel rooms, food, chauffeurs and limousines are the type of people who complained about the lavish spending and regal lifestyles of the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church. After all, spending the parishioners ( taxpayers) money can be condoned whilst doing the “Lord’s Work.” No correlation to the same hypocrisy will ever be made.

Neil Baker, Toronto.

Letter-writer Alex Bailski nailed it when he described climate change as more like a cult. Have you ever had a casual — and what usually starts out as a normal — conversation with a climate change follower? When you ask what they are willing to give up permanently to combat global warming, you are met with bewilderment. The answer lies somewhere between nothing and zilch.
