Concurrent with her government’s apology to acknowledge an outdated ( 1912) educational regulation that did not properly respect Ontario’s bilingual heritage, Premiere Kathleen Wynne has the opportunity to redress a more timely wrong. She should ask Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard do the same and formally ac- knowledge the second- class status the English language holds in his province’s workplaces — a slight visible on its signage and fanatically regulated by a zealous band of l anguage police. This could help rectify one of Canada’s remaining cultural indignities.
