Learning from mistakes
Re: Tories’ Victory Path Not Easy, But It’s Clear, Michael Den Tandt, Feb. 22.
Michael Den Tandt’s lecture outlining what Conservatives must become to be electable in Canada was fairly presumptuous and a bit misleading.
First, angry old men ( and women) are an important part of the body politic in any country. They are the antidote to naive social network voters, special interests and all those who demand rights with no corresponding obligations.
They have paid their fair share of taxes after years of work and risk -aking in business, farming, and careers of every nature. They have observed a little history and learned from the costly mistakes and wrong directions which many governments made and followed. Give them their due.
No doubt the last election was not well conducted for the Conservative Party. There is always next time; and from this point on den Tandt might trust the wellestablished mechanisms of party politics to sort out needed changes and new l eadership, hopefully all based on solid principles for good government and respect for Canada’s taxpayers. Other parties we know tend to miss that.
