SHIA LABOEUF CONTINUES TO DO SHIA LABOEUF THINGS
Yes, Shia LaBeouf is an actor. But he is also — and lest we forget, he will always remind us — an artiste. Not quite topping the all week marathon of his filmography in a movie theatre alongside fans, LaBeouf has given us a new project at which to gawk. He recently spent 24 hours holed up in an elevator interacting with anyone who bothered. One particular fan, a student by the name of Oscar Plomer-Roberts, asked the actor to punch him in the face. “I’m a performance artist,” he said, as evidenced by the YouTube video of the project. “Can you help me with the completion of my next piece by punching me in the face?” LaBeouf responded, “I’ll do it to myself but I don’t like doing it to you, dude. I just met you.” After some hesitation, he compromised with a slap, which can be heard in the video. The actor conducted the project, which he named #ELEVATE, with his usual collaborators, Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, in an elevator at England’s Oxford University student union building.
