QUEBEC POLICE SHOULD NOT WEAR THE HIJAB, MNA SAYS

-

Quebec’s police officers should not be allowed to wear the hijab, according to the Coalition Avenir Québec. The head scarf worn by Muslim women only serves to subjugate them and make them submit, and should be banned from the police uniform, said Coalition MNA Nathalie Roy. She was reacting to news that the RCMP would allow its Muslim officers to wear the hijab underneath their head gear. The hijab, like the burkini, Roy said, are accessories of radical Islam and should not be accepted by Quebec’s police agencies. Those who represent the authority of the state, primarily police officers, should abstain from wearing any and all religious garb, she said, recalling the CAQ’s position about state secularism.
