Re: Anti-Zionist student politician escapes sanction, Feb. 24

When I was doing my MBA in the 1980s at McGill, I had my car vandalized because I had put an Israeli emblem above the bumper. Someone had carved with a knife “PLO Lives, Israel Dies,” as well as slashed my tires.

I complained to the McGill University administration. No one returned my calls. I finally got through to an associate dean.

His response was, “What they did was wrong, but there is nothing we can do.”

I am reminded of a quote by Dante that was famously repeated by Robert Kennedy in his eulogy to his brother, John. “The hottest place in hell is reserved for those who hold onto their neutrality during times of crisis.” David Lithwick, Campbellford, Ont.
