The shell is all that remains of the original house — the inside is brand new, says Robert Pompeo, vice- president of Belterra Construction Corporation, the renovation/new build company that renovated the home.

The bright open- concept house offers 3,500 square feet of living space plus a finished lower level. It features a transitional design because the owner wanted a feel of what the house used to be like, Pompeo says.

“The best feature is that it’s beautifully finished,” says listing agent Rosanne Agasee of Forest Hill Real Estate. “It is very high end. It has oilrubbed wood floors, heated throughout the main and lower level.” All of the bathroom floors are also heated.

The configuration of the entry hall, which opens on to a large foyer, was borrowed from the original home but the staircase was moved to the opposite wall. The front room, currently being used as a separate dining room, could be used as an office, or family room, Pompeo says.

A gas fireplace is a focal point in the living room.

“The stunning chef ’s kitchen has a centre island with a leathered granite countertop and a full wine fridge,” Agasee says.

The second and third floors had multiple small rooms before (when the home housed several rental units). The space has been transformed into large bedrooms, each with a walk- in closet. The master suite has a five- piece marble en suite bathroom. A second bedroom and a laundry room are also on this level.

Two additional bedrooms, a sitting area, a bathroom and a 400-square-foot west-facing terrace are on the third floor. The lower level has nanny’s quarters and a separate entrance.

The basement was underpinned and has an eight-foot, three-inch ceiling height. The third floor was raised to the rafters, with some ceilings up to 11 feet high, Pompeo says.

The floor rebuilding was done in sections. Part of the main floor was removed then rebuilt and another portion was removed and then rebuilt. The process was repeated until the main floor was finished and then the process was continued on the second and third floors. Spray foam insulation was added to walls and an HVAC system installed.

The 26 by 130-foot lot has a private garden.
