When you custom- build a home, it’s one thing to be happy with the result but completely unexpected when you’re ecstatic. “The owners were so pleased with all of the trades that built the home that they held a big party for them,” says listing agent Khalen Meredith of Engel & Volkers York, who has listed the property with Kim Nichols.
And the entertaining hasn’t stopped. There have been many celebrations held at the grand stone-and-stucco home, including the owners’ daughter’s wedding last year, she says.
“It’s perfect for entertaining as the rooms are quite spacious and the layout is great for large groups.”
Guests comment about the ceiling heights, which are exceptional, and also say that the house is “both grand and inviting,” Meredith says.
The kitchen/ breakfast room has a marble floor, a centre island and a walkout to the backyard. A spacious dining room provides an elegant entertaining space. And the open staircase is a dramatic focal point.
The great room has a 27-foot-high cathedral ceiling, a fireplace and a view of the back yard. A main-floor office offers a built-in bookcase and French doors.
Three bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and walk- in closets. The other two bedrooms have double closets and share a bathroom.
“There is an open hallway dividing the two bedroom wings. It overlooks the main floor and is quite spacious,” Meredith says. “It is a great spot for a comfortable chair and a book.”
Active f amilies in particular will enjoy this property, she says. “There is an amazing infinity pool that overlooks the countryside, a swim- up bar, hot tubs and a golf green.”
The mud room has ample space for hockey equipment and storage for other sports equipment, closets and an adjacent 14x10.5- ft. laundry room.
The lower level offers casual entertaining space, including a recreation room with a wet bar and a walkout to the resort-like backyard.
The property is at the end of a cul- de- sac and is almost three acres, which is unusual for the area, Meredith says. The house, built in 2002, “sits quite high in the neighbourhood and looks over fields and forest.
“There is no neighbour on one side of the home.”
