‘I’D RATHER BE IN THE FIRST ONES THAN THE NEW ONES,’ DUNST SAYS

- Sadaf Ahsan,

With so many iterations of superheroes, for many people, there is often only one that stands out as the true incarnation of, for example, Spider-Man. And for Kirsten Dunst, who starred in the original trilogy a decade ago as Mary-Jane Watson, directed by Sam Raimi, it was hers that remains the best, starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. While the first and second certainly made for some great movies, we can pretend the third didn’t exist for Dunst’s sake. (And Maguire’s.) The series was later remade, first with Andrew Garfield in the leading role as part of Marc Webb’s (subpar) Amazing Spider-Man vision, and now, in its current, buzzier adaptation, with Tom Holland. Not that Dunst, pictured, has seen any of the newer ones. “I don’t care,” she said. “I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones.”
