Different looks

KITCHENS CAN REFLECT MANY PERSONALITIES AT VITA ON THE LAKE LISA VAN DE VEN

-

Two kitchens, two different looks. That’s what interior designer Kelly Cray envisioned in the sales office for Vita on the Lake. “We’re dealing with a pretty high tower here, so it’s a wide demographic,” says the principal with U31. To appeal to those different buyer needs, Cray showcased two kitchen vignettes — one modern white, the other taupe-toned contemporary. While the neutral palettes let the waterfront views shine, each offers different finishes for a unique buyer set. “There’s going to be a lot of personalities interested in living here,” he adds. Suites at the Mattamy Homes and Biddington Homes site range from 524 to 1,211 square feet and start at $456,990. The sales office is at 2167 Lake Shore Blvd. W., Etobicoke, and opens Monday to Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 647-347-5930 or visit mattamyhomes

“A great addition to the space,” is how Cray describes the island in kitchen number one. Designed for a younger market, it offers storage space but also doubles as a table, with white leather and chrome stools picking up the colours of the room;

While two-toned kitchens may be all the rage, Cray opted for two textures here instead, pairing flat white uppers with wood-look European laminate, also in white. “It was really to keep the neutrality of the kitchen,” he says, while a soft grey subway tile backsplash completes the look.

You still have the clean lines, but it’s more substantial,” Cray says of the second kitchen, where he opted for warm grey cabinetry in European wood-look laminate. A row of solid matte taupe cabinets adds subtle contrast, flanked on either side by the integrated fridge and pantry.

With taupe-toned quartz countertops, the island in this kitchen — designed with a slightly older purchaser in mind— features a more traditional breakfast bar layout. “There’s opportunity because the space itself would be larger,” says Cray, who paired it with woodframed stools featuring grey leather upholstery.
