WOMAN SPENDS $32 ON RAFFLE AND WINS ENGLISH MANOR HOME

-

A woman who spent £ 20 ($32) on raffle tickets was the lucky winner of an £845,000- ($1.4-million) manor house in Lancashire, England. Marie Segar, 51, won the six-bedroom property after one of her tickets was drawn last month. The raffle was the brainchild of Dunstan Low and his wife, Natasha Dobosz, who had struggled to sell their home, Melling Manor, for enough to cover their mortgage debt. They raised £998,000, which was enough to cover their legal fees and mortgage. After learning of her success, a stunned Segar said: “Is this a wind up? Are you kidding? I’m in shock. I’m speechless. I’ve never won anything before. This is completely surreal.. .” Low, 37, said he and his wife were sad to part with the manor home “but we will be fine — we are going to stay local. I’m just glad someone else can enjoy it.”
